Onkyo Releases More New Home Theater Receivers

Onkyo has recently announced more new offerings: the Onkyo TX-NR5007, TX-NR3007 and TX-NR1007 priced at $2,699, $2,099 and $1,599 respectively. These new products depart from their numbering system by adding double ’0′s in their product model for the first time.

These new receivers will be the first to deliver nine amplifier channels. They also support dual subwoofer outputs, making them 9.2-channel models. The advent of Audyssey’s DSX and Dolby’s Pro Logic IIz post-processing modes have prompted the increase in channels. Both of these modes add height while DSX also offers the option of width. With nine amp channels, you can run any two of the following: height, width, and back-surround. An ethernet connection allows streaming with Rhapsody and Pandora with Dolby ProLogic IIz and Audyssey DSK audio codecs.

These THX Ultra2 Plus also boast THX Volume Plus, a low-volume listening mode that evens out differences among source inputs and tames the insane dynamics of some movie soundtracks.

The TX-NR5007 will feature 145 watts while the TX-NR3007 will feature 140 watts while the TX-NR1007 will output 135 watts. The 2 higher end receivers will have 8 HDMI ports and HQV Reon video codecs while the lower end model will feature 6 HDMI ports and Faroudja video codecs.
